Leisingera janus Genome sequencing and assembly

Whole genome sequencing of cultured novel Roseobacter isolates, Leisingera janus, originally obtained from marine biofilms near tubes of the serpulid polychaete Hydroides elegans (Marina del Rey, California). Single-species biofilms of environmental isolates belonging to the Roseobacter clade (Rhodobacteraceae), a widespread and diverse group of marine Alphaproteobacteria, are inducers of settlement and metamorphosis of H. elegans. Although critical for processes such as sustaining many marine fisheries and biofouling, it is currently unclear how bacteria stimulate invertebrate marine larvae metamorphosis.
