The Köppen-Geiger climate classification map is a high-resolution gridded dataset downscaled by Rubel (2017), which provides two data subsets: one NetCDF file and an NCL script for standalone visualization. This dataset depicts the spatial distribution of climate classes for the period 1986–2010, with a resolution of 5 arc-minutes (1/12 degree, approximately 10 km). The downscaling algorithm developed by Rubel et al. (2017) was applied to the reanalyzed Köppen-Geiger climate classification data to generate this high-resolution 5 arc-minute dataset. It represents the climate class distribution over the most recent 25-year period. Furthermore, the color table was optimized for the elevated resolution, leading to a slightly modified map appearance.
