资源简介:
Opportunistic pathogen such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa plays a prominent role as an etiological agent of serious nosocomial infections in the urinary tract, respiratory tract, and blood of immunocompromised individuals. The persistence of the P. aeruginosa pathogen in nosocomial infections has been attributed to its ability to form biofilm with increased tolerance to antibiotics and disinfectant chemicals as well as resisting phagocytosis and other components of the immune system, resulting in high rates of mortality and morbidity. In addition, the overuse and misuse of antibiotics have selection for multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria pathogens, endangering the efficacy and development of antibiotics, as well as making patients infected with P. aeruginosa becoming frequently more untreatable. Hence, the development of alternative therapeutic and prophylactic approaches to traditional antibiotics for controlling and preventing P. aeruginosa infection is needed.
