Landslide Inventory of North Carolina

Currently, this inventory is incomplete as mapping efforts and updates to older formats are still underway. Over time, this Feature Service will include every mapped landslide feature in North Carolina to date, as well as all future mapping efforts. The "Observations" layer identifies locations where landslides have impacted roads/structures or document’s locations where photographs or notes have been collected. "Ground Ruptures" are represented as lines indicating the extent of surface ruptures, which frequently serve as early indicators of landslides. The "Landslide Features" layer delineates the observed extent of mapped landslides. When feasible, landslides are classified into three phases: (1) initial slide (Source Area), (2) erosion or entrainment phase (Transport Zone), and (3) deposition phase (Deposit). This layer contains valuable fields such as confidence in existence and location, landslide type, and the storm events associated with each landslide.
