This dataset estimates the total number of fatalities caused by the April 25, 2015 Gorkha earthquake in Nepal and its subsequent aftershock disasters. It uses building data provided by OpenStreetMap as the foundational dataset, takes epicentral distance and seismic intensity as hazard-causing factors, and derives building damage conditions by assessing the changes between pre-disaster and post-disaster building data. Then, by overlaying Nepal's population density data from LandScan, it calculates the number of people affected by building damage. Finally, using classified disaster-affected population data provided by the Government of Nepal, it obtains the total number of fatalities resulting from the earthquake.
