To collect this data, an Internet-wide IP address sweep was conducted. Every IP address in the ranges allocated by IANA was pinged once by sending ICMP ECHO_REQUEST (PING) packet. If the response (ICMP_ECHO_REPLY) came, its IP address was recorded in this data-set. In all, over 2.5 billion distinct IP addresses were probed during this experiment.为采集本数据集的相关数据，本次实验开展了全域互联网IP地址扫描工作。针对互联网编号分配机构（Internet Assigned Numbers Authority, IANA）分配的地址范围内的所有IP地址，均通过发送ICMP回声请求（PING）数据包完成一次Ping探测。若该IP地址返回了ICMP回声应答（ICMP_ECHO_REPLY）数据包，则将其IP地址录入本数据集。本次实验累计探测了超过25亿个独立IP地址。
