This repository contains the dataset and analytical tools to investigate the relationship between macroeconomic indicators and the global prevalence of obesity between 2017 and 2021. The data allows researchers and analysts to explore how socioeconomic parameters significantly influence public health and obesity rates across different nations. Data Dictionary (Codebook): Country: Name of the observed country. Year: Year of the observation (Panel data ranging from 2017 to 2021). Healthy groceries basket (UA): Metric representing the cost or accessibility of a healthy food basket, measured in Arbitrary Units (UA). Obesity prevalence (%): Percentage of the adult population classified as obese. Food Importation (%): Percentage of food imported relative to total merchandise imports or national consumption. Agricultor (% of total employments): Share of the national workforce employed in the agricultural sector. Urban Population (%): Percentage of the country's total population living in urban areas. Health expenditure (% GDP): Total national health expenditure expressed as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product. GDP standarized (base 100): Standardized Gross Domestic Product index to allow accurate cross-country economic comparisons. Methodological notes: Obesity defined according to the World Health Organization criteria (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m²). Base-100 normalization applied to ensure temporal and cross-country comparability.
