Abell 168 is a low-mass cluster with a global temperature of 2 keV. It is at thelate stage of a merger in the plane of the sky along the north-south directions.A recent GMRT and JVLA study has shown that it contains an iconic radio relic inthe north direction.The location of the radio relic it is at the very edge of the existingXMM-Newton EPIC field (12 arcmin off-axis).We have detected a potential surface brightness discontinuity exactly at thelocation of the radio relicbut we are unable to constrain its temperature. We propose an XMM observationfocusing on the radio relic to confirm the surface brightness edge and to constrain its temperature. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
