We aim at unveiling, by X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS), the local coordination changes upon crystallization in the InGeTe3 2D alloy, an emerging Phase Change Material (PCM) with outstanding properties for in-memory computating applications. Through the study of the local coordination of the material we can unveil the origin of the high transition temperature of InGeTe3 and understand the details of the structural evolution of the amorphous to crystalline phase transition. This knowledge would provide crucial inputs for precise material design for energy-efficient in-memory computing applications and could shed light on the crystallization process of other members of the broad ABC3 compound family.
