EUROSEM Expert Survey on Fiscal Solidarity in the Euro Area

This dataset contains the results of expert survey conducted between April and August 2021 on the architecture of the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). Survey questions relate to EMU architecture, as well as the demographics and the political orientation of respondents.

The EUROSEM Expert Survey on Fiscal Solidarity in the Euro Area was created under the “EUROSEM” Jean Monnet Network project, namely “The Politics of the European Semester”, University of Victoria, Canada, 2018-2022. This project received ERASMUS+ funding under grant# 600110-EPP-1-2018-1-CA-EPPJMO-NETWORK.

The Survey was sent out to experts in Academia, Federal Ministries, Government Agencies, Research Institutes, and Think Tanks in four countries: Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Portugal. It circulated between mid April and August of 2021. Besides questions on the opinions of the respondents regarding fiscal solidarity, the survey included demographics questions, as well as questions on the perceptions and opinions on: the benefits of the EU and EMU, EMU governance, fiscal policy, implications of fiscal support, and political opinions.
