Bat Call Recordings from Community Surveys in the City of Wanneroo, Western Australia (Jan - Apr 2025)

<p>This dataset contains bat echolocation recordings collected as part of a community-based project within the City of Wanneroo, Western Australia, between January and April 2025. It comprises two complementary components: (1) reference calls recorded from hand-released individuals captured during targeted harp trapping events, and (2) acoustic transect survey calls recorded using Wildlife Acoustics Echo Meter Touch 2 detectors. <br />Transect surveys were conducted along predetermined routes in bushland reserves. Reference calls provide verified species-level examples to support acoustic identification, while transect recordings capture species presence at each site and forms part of ongoing biodiversity monitoring. Each record includes metadata on location, date and time, and species. Species identifications were verified through a combination of trapping records, manual call analysis, and comparison with reference calls.<br /> The dataset forms part of a forthcoming publication examining community-based approaches to urban bat monitoring and biodiversity management.</p>
