Metagenomic analysis of tuberculosis in 18th century mummies from Vac, Hungary

The samples of this study originate from human remains of the crypt of the Dominican church of Vac in Hungary, which housed 265 individuals between 1731 and 1838 CE. The crypt remained forgotten until its rediscovery in 1994 during construction works. Due to the micro-climate inside the crypt, most of the individuals remained in a naturally mummified state. Previous pathological and molecular studies have shown a very high proportion of TB infection within the individuals. This project aims to extend the collection of shotgun sequencing data of historical TB of the Vac Mummy Collection.
