Outcomes of surgical and non-surgical management of proximal humerus fractures

Proximal humerus fractures are one of the most common orthopaedic injuries. Increasing rates of surgical treatment for these injuries contrast with a growing body of literature supporting non-operative management. However, numerous challenges exist in the management of these injuries and there remain several demographic groups and injury patterns where limited evidence is currently available. This thesis details an investigation into the outcomes of operative and non-operative management of proximal humerus fractures in areas where limited evidence exists, with the aim to provide an evidence base to better guide healthcare professionals in clinical decision-making.
