THE EFFECT OF PRESERVING AND INCREASING SKELETAL MUSCLE MASS ON GLYCEMIC CONTROL AND THE POSSIBILITY OF REMISSION IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS
收藏资源简介:
This study investigates the relationship between skeletal muscle mass, glycemic control, and the possibility of remission in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Skeletal muscle is a major site of glucose utilization and plays an important role in insulin sensitivity and metabolic regulation. The study assessed skeletal muscle mass, muscle strength, body composition, fasting blood glucose, HbA1c, and physical activity. Individualized resistance exercise, increased daily physical activity, and nutritional management were used as important components of the intervention. The findings demonstrated that improvement in muscle mass and strength was accompanied by better glycemic control, including reductions in fasting blood glucose and HbA1c levels. A proportion of patients achieved criteria compatible with diabetes remission, while others demonstrated significant metabolic improvement without complete remission. These findings suggest that preservation and gradual increase of skeletal muscle mass may contribute to improved metabolic control and support long-term management of type 2 diabetes.
