The results of the publication “Multidecadal climate variability dominated past trends in the water balance of the Baltic Sea catchment area” by H. E. Markus Meier, Leonie Barghorn, Florian Börgel, Matthias Gröger, Lev Naumov, and Hagen Radtke” are based on the here presented model and observational datasets. Baltic Sea salinity is characterised by a pronounced multidecadal variability, with a period of about 30 years. The authors propose that these fluctuations are caused by the combination of the Atlantic Multidecadal Variability and the North Atlantic Oscillation. A positive feedback mechanism amplifies the salinity variations. The datasets are sorted according to the figures showing the analysis results and summarised in the README.pdf file.
