A program is presented for the study of collisions between heavy-ions. These include elastic, quasielastic, deep-inelastic and fusion processes. For the internal degrees of freedom of the two ions, we choose in TORINO the collective surface modes treated as dumped harmonic oscillators and incorporate the particle transfer as a statistical process. Nature of problem
Collisions between two heavy nuclear systems give rise to a wide variety of phenomena. These include elastic, quasielastic, deep inelastic and fusion processes. The characteristics of these regimes are determined by an interplay between the relative motion of the two ions and the relevant internal degrees of freedom.
