Transition(s) 2050 – Four scenarios to achieve carbon neutrality

Carbon neutrality by 2050 now belongs to the common language. While its definition is roughly shared, the path to achieving it is still unclear, if not unknown, for most decision-makers and citizens. However, in the face of the climate emergency, the changes to be made are of such magnitude that it is essential to speed up the debate now, given the deadlines for decision-making in a democratic framework, as well as those of their implementation. That is why the ADEME wished to submit to the debate four “typical” paths, consistent and contrasted to lead France towards carbon neutrality.
