Cervico-Vaginal Microbiome Dynamics Across HPV-Driven Lesion Stages in Moroccan Women

This study investigates the evolution of the vaginal microbiota in Moroccan women across different stages of HPV-related cervical disease using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. By analyzing cervico-vaginal samples from 247 women, comprising 104 cervical cancer cases post-radiochemotherapy, 43 women with high-grade precervical lesions and confirmed high-risk HPV infection, and 100 HPV-negative healthy controls, we characterized microbial shifts associated with HPV infection and cervical disease progression.
