The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing paper or board, and an internal sizing system for providing improved retention of hydrophobic internal sizing agents. The internal sizing system is a hydrophobic internal sizing agent selected from the group consisting of alkenyl succinic anhydride (ASA), alkyl ketene dimer (AKD), rosin size and any combination thereof as the first component, and both as the second component.
