Whole transcriptome Next Generation Sequencing (RNASeq) analysis was performed on the substantia nigra of C57Bl/6 mice that have been exposed to the heavy metal manganese and subsequently infected with Influenza H1N1. The hypothesis is that manganese plays a role in inflammatory activation in glial cells and that condition is exacerbated later in life by infection with the H1N1 virus.
