Smoke Control Areas

Under the Clean Air Act local authorities may declare the whole or part of the district of the authority to be a smoke control area. It is an offence to emit smoke from a chimney of a building, from a furnace or from any fixed boiler if located in a designated smoke control area. It is also an offence to acquire an "unauthorised fuel" for use within a smoke control area unless it is used in an "exempt" appliance ("exempted" from the controls which generally apply in the smoke control area). The current maximum level of fine is £1,000 for each offence.根据《清洁空气法》（Clean Air Act），地方主管部门可将其辖区的全部或部分区域划定为烟雾管控区。若在指定烟雾管控区内，从建筑物烟囱、熔炉或任何固定式锅炉排放烟雾，即构成违法行为。在烟雾管控区内获取用于该区域的“未获许可燃料”同样属于违法行为，除非该燃料仅用于“豁免设备”——此类设备可豁免烟雾管控区内通用的管控规则。目前每一项违法行为的最高罚款金额为1000英镑。
