Scripts, Data and Maps in Support of Viquez et al 2025: APPLICATION OF OPEN ACCESS DATA FOR DOCUMENTING MANGROVE COVER, COVER CHANGE AND UNCERTAINTY IN PANAMA

As part of a regional effort to generate detailed open-source maps of mangrove cover for Central America, we used Sentinel-2 MSI satellite imagery and Google Earth Engine to generate a 10 m resolution map of mangrove cover for Panama for 2020 and an unbiased estimate of the total mangrove cover. We compared this to estimates from Landsat data to understand how source data and workflows impact results To understand impacts of different management types on mangrove cover changes we used this workflow to estimate cover for 1999 and 2020 from Landsat data.The files below are included as archived data.
