资源简介:
This experiment took place in Danby Woodlot, York University on September 24, 2015 from 2:30-5:00pm. The temperature in the woods was 21 °C and it was partially sunny (enough light to observe the trees). The purpose of the experiment was to observe and compare adult trees (trees that were above 2.5 meters in height) and the closest tree next to it along the 26 meter transect line which was randomly placed in the woodlot. The observations included measuring the diameter of the trees (adult and one next to it) at breast height (1.2 meters from the ground) using a measuring tape. The diameter was found by placing the measuring tape width wise from one edge of the trunk to the other in centimeters (no wrapping tape around trunk). The distance between the trees was measured by finding the distance between both trees at breast height using the measuring tape in centimeters. The conditions of both trees were also observed by using our eyes to determine if the tree was dead (no leaves and large semi attached woodchips on bark), living (15 brown golden leaves or more) or green canopy (less the 15 golden brown leaves). The sample size was 20. The group members of group 4 including myself were Simranjit Kang, Ava Kamali and Katrin Chapkis
