United States High Body Mass Index Prevalence and Years of Life Lost by County, Race, Ethnicity, and Cause 2000-2019

Estimates were produced for body mass index (BMI), overweight, and obesity, as well as population attributable fractions (PAFs) and years of life lost (YLLs) attributable to high BMI for 27 causes in the United States. Input sources included the National Center for Health Statistics, the American Community Survey, the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, the Gallup Daily survey, and relative risk curves and theoretical minimum exposure from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2021 study.

This dataset includes the following:
-CSVs of merged county-, state-, and national-level estimates of BMI, overweight, obesity, PAF and burden for each age group, sex, year, and racial and ethnic population: Latino, American Indian or Alaska Native (AIAN), Asian or Pacific Islander (Asian), Black, White. Blank cells are masked estimates (strata with average populations under 1,000).
