Epithelial to mesenchymal transition in mammary epithelial cells

We used three distinct mammary epithelial EMT cell models to study the EMT program in mammary epithelial cells. These models include epithelial and post-EMT derivatives of MCF10A, HMLE, and D492 cells. The MCF10A cell line undergoes EMT when exposed to TGF-b treatment, the HMLE cell line naturally give rise to a cell subpopulation with stem cell and post-EMT characteristics, and the D492 cells undergo EMT when they are cocultivated with endothelial cells in a three-dimensional (3D) environment.
