资源简介:
Subcanopy data were collected at the University of Michigan Biological Station (UMBS) in Pellston, MI in summer 2025. This data is part of the NSF RAPID funded Ice Storm research project: Stability of forest composition, structure, and function across landscape ecosystems (Fahey & Kennedy). The broader project is titled: Forest ecosystem resistance to compounding ice disturbance: Disentangling the effects of prior disturbance severity, pattern, and timing. Subcanopy trees must reach 1.37 m high, and be less than 8 cm diameter to be included. In 2025, subcanopy trees were measured in FoRTE (Forest Resilience Threshold Experiment), Ameriflux, LTREB (Long Term Research in Environmental Biology), and FASET (Forest Accelerated Succession Experiment) plots. However, this data set includes only trees in Ameriflux, LTREB, and FASET which were added in 2025 (the FoRTE subcanopy data can be found in a separate data package containing just FoRTE data). Each plot contains four vegetation plots located NE, NW, SE, and SW from plot center, and each vegetation plot has at least 2 subcanopy trees associated with it. All subcanopy trees within the 2 x 2 m veg plots were included. If there were fewer than 2 subcanopy trees in the plot then whichever subcanopy trees were closest to the center of the 2 x 2 m plot were included. There are 30 plots included in this dataset.
