The recapitulation of developmental genes is an important feature ofidiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The developmental transcription factor Sine Oculis homeobox homolog 1 (Six1) has been identified to be upregulated in IPF by several RNA seq datasets. However, its role in the pathophysiology of lung fibrosis is not known. We aimed to determine if Six1 was elevated in IPF and whether it could provide a novel therapeutic target for lung fibrosis.
