Monthly number of contactless debit and credit cards in circulation in UK 2016-2021

The number of contactless cards allowing for contactless payments in the United Kingdom rose steadily between January 2016 and October 2021. Throughout this period, the number of contactless credit cards was, on average, about half of the contactless debit cards. As of October 2021, there were 52.51 million contactless credit cards in the UK and 89.8 million contactless debit cards.
