Quorum sensing regulatory protein LsrR affects Avian Pathogenic Escherichia coli pathogenicity by regulating cysN

The study determined that the cysN gene influences biofilm formation, motility, adhesion, invasion, bacterial persistence, antibiotic susceptibility, and minimum inhibition concentration. Further, the results revealed that LsrR binds to a region -289 to -319 of the cysN promoter. The most intriguing discovery of this study is that cysN contributes to APEC survival efficiency and pathogenicity. Future research studies should explore additional quorum sensing pathways, mechanistic studies on binding affinities, cysN role in multi-drug resistance, and immune modulation mechanisms
