The animal bones of the archaeological excavation of Balhorner Field

In the area of the Balhorn settlement at Paderborn, which was abandoned during the late Middle Ages, the archaeologists also found their excavations on about 24 000 animal bones. At the request of the archaeologists, DG NRW carried out an osteo archaeological analysis of domestic and wild animal society from the Roman Emperor season to the late Middle Ages. From the taxonomic-numeric bone analysis, the use of domestic animals during the specified period is clarified. This shows the economic importance of the various breeds of domestic animals and the economic strategies of their owners (slaughter, eating, breeding).在中世纪晚期废弃的帕德博恩（Paderborn）巴尔霍恩（Balhorn）定居点遗址的发掘工作中，考古学家出土了约24000块动物骨骼。应考古学家的委托，DG NRW针对罗马帝国时期至中世纪晚期的家养与野生动物群落开展了骨骼考古分析。通过分类学与数量骨骼分析，明确了该特定时期内家养动物的利用情况，由此揭示了各类家养畜禽品种的经济重要性及其饲养者的经济策略（屠宰、食用、繁育）。
