STEM CELL THERAPY AS A POTENTIAL TREATMENT FOR TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY
收藏资源简介:
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of mortality and long-term disability worldwide. Current treatments primarily focus on stabilizing patients and preventing secondary injury, but effective regenerative therapies remain limited. Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising strategy for promoting neural repair and functional recovery following TBI. This article reviews the pathophysiology of traumatic brain injury, the mechanisms by which stem cells may contribute to brain repair, types of stem cells used in experimental and clinical studies, and current challenges in translating stem cell therapy into clinical practice. Although preclinical findings are encouraging, further research is required to establish safety, efficacy, and standardized treatment protocols.
