In this study, the impact of risperidone on the activity of antioxidant enzymes and lipid peroxidation in rats was evaluated. In summary, a total of fifteen male Holtzman albino rats were randomly assigned to a Control group (n = 5, without risperidone) and two treatment groups (n = 5 per group) with doses of 0.4 mg kg-1 day-1 and 4.0 mg kg-1 day-1 of risperidone, administered via orogastric gavage for 20 consecutive days. After treatment, the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PDH), and glutathione S-transferase (GST) enzymes was analyzed. Levels of reduced glutathione (GSH) and lipid peroxidation, quantified as thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), were also measured.
