Pinus densa is the dominant tree in Florida pine rocklands, a critically endangered ecosystem due to fragmentation and urbanization. Salt intrusion from sea level rise is one of the biggest threats to this endangered ecosystem. We then did salinity manipulation experiments with seedlings. We used high-throughput sequencing (HTS) to assess baseline fungal communities in the soil, from mature roots, and from and the seedling roots from our salinity greenhouse bioassay.
