This dataset is the growing season NDVI and vegetation phenology dataset of the Tibetan Plateau during during the past 20 years (2001-2020). The data source is MODIS (MOD13A2, Collection 6) products, and the spatial resolution is 1km. The dataset includes: the average NDVI during the growing season (May-September), the start date of the growing season (SOS), the end date of the growing season (EOS) and the duration of the growing season (DOS) for each year from 2001 to 2020. Two methods were used to extract vegetation phenology: dynamic threshold approach and double logistic function method. The data format is TIFF and the projection is Sphere_ ARC_ INFO_ Lambert_ Azimuthal_ Equal_ Area. This dataset includes four directories, which are respectively: 1. GrNDVI The annual mean growing season (May-September) NDVI. 2. phenology_method1 The annual vegetation phenology (SOS, EOS and DOS) retrieved by dynamic threshold approach. 3. phenology_method2 The annual vegetation phenology (SOS, EOS and DOS) retrieved by double logistic function approach. SOS and EOS are shown by DOY (Days in Year). DOS has the unit of days. 4. Ancillary data This directory includes: a shape file for the scope of Tibetan Plateau, a raster file of the multi-year mean value of GrNDVI during 2001-2020 (GrNDVI_2001-2020_mean.asc), and a raster file of the ratio of the average May-September NDVI to the average October-April NDVI representing the seasonality of NDVI (NDVIratio_2001-2020_mean.tif).
