资源简介:
Research background: Contemporary art practice has sought to examine concepts of authorship and the social dimensions of art. Dr Laresa Kosloff turned a live situational performance that she produced for the ACCA Pop-Up Project: Venice in 2011 into a series of 22 photographic images and a kinetic sculpture. These artworks document and interpret her live performance and enable the project to continue on within a gallery context. Research contribution: The exhibited photographs form a visual narrative that captures Kosloff's performance at the Vernissage event of the 54th Venice Biennale in Italy. These images tell the story of Kosloff collecting the signatures of famous artist's on a plaster cast that encased her right leg. The plaster artifact was also displayed on top of a motorized plinth that rotated the signed cast in circles. Ideas of authorship, spectatorship and value in art were humourously addressed through this iteration of the project at Monash University Museum of Art. Research significance: The significance of this research is that the artifacts from Kosloff's situational performance were used to create new artworks that elaborate on concepts of authorship and the social basis of art. The importance of this project is attested to the large public audience for this exhibition and the accompanying lecture that Kosloff presented as part of MADA Lunch-time Art Forum Program on the 6th March 2013.
