A monoclonal antibody previously shown to be specific for the epitopic region did not neutralize toxin in vivo at a dose of 20 LD50 (10 to 20% survival rate). Administration of the antibody in pairs or triplets with additional mAbs recognizing other light and heavy chain domains of BoNT/A1 resulted in enhanced neutralization, suggesting a synergistic effect. SImilar effects were seen with the neutralization of type A2 toxin.
