Historical city maps City of Cologne

This dataset provides historical city maps that cover the present urban area of Cologne and partly the surrounding area. These are not large-scale cadastral and corridor maps, but city maps and overview maps. The service therefore contains a number of maps depicting formerly self-employed, now incorporated places. The stock compiled in the service is not complete and will be expanded in the future. The basis for the service is scanned analogue city maps starting from about 1600. In order to fit geometrically to the current city map, these maps were georeferenced and equalised to compensate for inaccuracies, generalisation effects, material delay and scanner errors. The service is therefore intended for the content comparison. In order to achieve a meaningful chronology to this day, the service also includes younger city maps, which have already been created digitally. If you want to print a historic city map, it is advisable to use the undistorted original data with edge design. The cards are freely usable under an open license.
