Preserving Genomic Biodiversity of the Amphibians and Reptiles of Myanmar. Amphibians and Reptiles of Myanmar

The Smithsonian Institution has invested nearly two decades of biodiversity research in Myanmar. The National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) Division of Amphibians and Reptiles, and the Smithsonian Conservation Biodiversity Institute (SCBI) are working to document and understand the biodiversity of the herpetofauna in Myanmar for conservation efforts. The Global Genome Initiative is funding DNA Barcoding and sequencing of other loci in order to assist in specimen identifications. One goal of this project is to provide DNA Barcodes, for specimen identification purposes, from all amphibian and reptile species in the region.
