2011 Commercial Fishing: Important Inshore Fishing Grounds around Grampian

In order to better understand the nature, extent and intensity of interactions amongst coastal users, Marine Scotland asked the Local Coastal Partnerships to collect spatial data not already represented in national datasets. This map shows important areas for shellfish fishing around Grampian. It was created by the East Grampian Local Coastal Partnership, and covers the area of sea out to 12 miles. The source was from local fishermen: two skippers were interviewed, representing the very North (Fraserburgh) and the South of the Region (Gourdon). The fishermen drew on maps areas important to them, what gear they used, species caught. They were not asked intensity or season used, or social / cultural background questions.
