Coprophagy prevention affecte the diversity of cecum microflora in rabbits

As an instinctive behavior observed in rabbits and certain rodents, coprophagy plays a critical role in maintaining the equilibrium of intestinal microbial ecology and improving feed efficiency. This study examined the effects of coprophagy prevention (CP) on cecal microorganisms using 16S rRNA, and the results revealed that CP significantly decreased the richness and diversity of bacterial in the cecum of rabbits.
