Data for "Freezing rain events related to atmospheric rivers and associated mechanisms for western North America"

The data provided here are atmospheric rivers (AR) characteristics (yearly distributions of mean IVT and AR frequency during September–April) identified in the NCEP North American Regional Reanalysis (30-km) and CRCM5 simulations (0.44 degree) for the present (1976-2005) and future (2070-2099) climate. The freezing rain (FR) characteristics (e.g. fraction of AR-related FR events relative to the total FR events during September–April) and the environmental fields (the 925-2m thermal stratification and the ascent contributed by the differential vorticity advection) associated with AR-related FR are also provided.The data is provided in python .pckl format. The example code for reading each of the provided .pckl files is given in Readme.txt.
