The seed microbiome of indigenous Nigerian leafy-green vegetables

The seed microbiome is essential for plant health, development, and adaptation, yet little is known regarding the constituents of seed microbiota of indigenous crops, like Africa's indigenous vegetables. Microbiome profiling using domain-specific amplicon sequencing was performed to examined the seed microbiome of five economically important leafy green vegetables, which included Amaranthus hybridus, Solanum macrocarpon, Corchorus olitorius, Celosia argentea, and Telfairia occidentalis.
