Vibrios are main causative pathogens in both fish and shellfish ,prior study has shown that V. chagasii is a pathogenic bacteria, and it was ever isolated and identified from diseased Patinopecten yessoensis. The genome sequence,on the one hand, provide a significant database to better understand the physiology and metabolic potential of V. chagasii,on the other hand, a series of virulence-associated genes that may be responsible for its pathogenicity can isolated to further study its pathogenic mechanism.
