Expectation that ESG portfolios will not underperform non-ESG portfolios 2019-2020

The expectations that ESG-integrated portfolios would outperform or perform as well as non-ESG portfolios was lower in the United States than in the other regions. The highest share or respondents who assumed ESG portfolios would perform as well or better was in Europe, where the share reached 97 percent in 2021. Most respondents expected positive outcomes - or at least loss free outcomes - in all regions during all survey periods.
