These preliminary Flood Proxy Maps (FPM) show areas which are likely damaged and flooded in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan due to heavy rains since 3 Jul 2020. These maps were derived from synthetic aperture radar data acquired by ALOS-2 satellites operated by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Analysed by the ARIA-SG team at the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) in collaboration with NASA-JPL and Caltech.
