The aim of this study is to investigate HFR1 involvement in leaf senescence. Under dark-induced leaf senescence treatment, HFR1 overexpression showed similar delayed leaf senescence phenotype with ore1-3 mutant, while hfr1-5 mutant showed accelerated leaf senescence phenotype. The RNA transcriptomes of Arabidopsis mutants of hfr1-5, ore1-3 and hfr1-5 x ore1-3 with wildtype (WT) as control under dark-induced leaf senescence were analyzed for their unique and shared differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in their antagonistic functions. The study demonstrates that HFR1 delays leaf senescence by suppressing ORE1 in Arabidopsis possibly via multiple mechanisms.
