De-identified data files (.xlsx) for Interview with an Avatar: Comparing Online and Virtual Reality Perspective Taking for Gender Bias in STEM Hiring Decisions - Studies 1 and 2
The dataset represents participant response values for the outcomes evaluated in the paper. These are virtual embodiment (EQ), competence, hireability, likeability, empathy, self-other overlap (IOS), participant gender, embodiment, and candidate choice.
Variable naming convention:
Gender (0 = man, 1 = woman)
Embodiment (0 = congruent, 1 = incongruent)
Choice (0 = male candidate, 1 = female candidate)
Competence, Hireability, Likeability, Empathy, and IOS are measured at Time 1 and Time 2. The first number following the variable name indicates time and the second indicates the measure's item (e.g., Competence_1_1, Competence_2_1, etc.).
EQ = Embodiment Questionnaire; item numbers correspond to those provided in the original article (Gonzalez-Franco & Peck, 2018). This measure of virtual immersion was used only in Study 2.
