3D Mandible Model Generated from Real Bone Scanning Data for Anatomy Education

This dataset contains a 1:1-scale, 3D-printable human mandible model generated from structured blue-light scanning of an adult dry mandible from the educational collection of the Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Kütahya Health Sciences University. The mandible was scanned using a CR-Scan Raptor structured blue-light 3D scanner. The resulting point cloud, consisting of approximately 10–12 million points, was processed in Blender and optimized to approximately 2 million triangular faces. Noise reduction, surface smoothing, removal of disconnected fragments, and mesh repair procedures were performed to prepare the model for three-dimensional printing. The canalis mandibularis and inferior alveolar nerve were digitally reconstructed according to recognized anatomical landmarks and their expected anatomical course and integrated into the model for educational visualization. These internal structures were not directly captured by the surface scan and should not be interpreted as specimen-specific internal anatomical measurements. The final model was prepared for 1:1-scale three-dimensional printing. The physical model was successfully produced using white Hyper PLA filament on a Bambu Lab X1E printer. The model is intended as an open educational resource for anatomy teaching and may be used, reproduced, adapted, and evaluated in future educational studies in accordance with the stated license.This resource was developed within the scope of the Scientific Research Project entitled “Gerçek Kemik Tarama Verileri ile 3B Mandibula Modeli Geliştirilmesi ve Eğitsel Kullanımı,” supported by the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit of Kütahya Health Sciences University under project number TSA-2025-301.
