Antibiotic resistance is becoming a major health problem worldwide, making it harder to treat infections. This research explores a new class of synthetic molecules called cationic lipidated oligomers (CLOs), which mimic natural antimicrobial peptides. These molecules can attack and break down the membranes of harmful bacteria and fungi, including drug-resistant strains like MRSA. The study also shows that CLOs affect internal cell processes, not just the membrane. By carefully designing and testing different versions of these molecules, researchers found they can be powerful, adaptable tools for fighting tough infections, offering hope for new treatments beyond traditional antibiotics.
