The series consists of bound books of minutes relating to meetings of Mackellar County Council.The Chairmans' Minute Books consist of copies of statements and recommendations made to Council meetings by the chairman, regarding general Council business and issues to be put before Council. This includes industrial matters, staff issues, council policy, purchase of equipment, and finance. Also included are reports and reviews made by the chairman, both to the County Council itself and also to local government councils (Manly Municipal Council and Warringah Shire Council). Where relevant, there are also copies of correspondence, for example from Town Clerks or Government departments. In particular, there are a number of letters pertinent to the winding up of the Council in 1979.
